William Singe: From The Collective to the World

So you might have already seen this guy here and there on your Facebook timeline or Youtube suggestions but do you know who he is?

Will Singe is a singer/songwriter from Australia that is slowly becoming the next big up-and-coming artist. Will wasn't always a solo act though. He used to be 1/5 (and then 1/4) of the Australian band The Collective along with Trent Bell, Julian De Vizio, Jayden Sierra, and Zach Russell.

Let me just tell you that I did love and STILL love The Collective! They were one of the best group of guys just oozing talent and getting away with some hilarious antics. They were formed on the fourth season of the X Factor Australia and finished in third place. Their debut single "Surrender" was released in 2012 followed by their self-titled album. They have since released a couple other singles including "Another Life" and "Burn the Bright Lights" as well as some pretty amazing covers. Earlier this year The Collective sadly was no more as the guys decided to pursue solo careers. But enough of that let's talk about Will!

Will has always had an insane amount of talent and I could tell from the start that his voice could easily stand on its own. And now other people are definitely taking notice. Earlier this month Will announced that he has been signed to Paradigm Agency here in the US which hopefully means lots and lots of new music from Will! He also announced that a US tour is in the works which is equally if not more exciting (at least for me).

Check out a few of Will's covers below! You can purchase Will's music on iTunes and get his mixtape  "The Re-Introduction II" here.

Pick of the Week--Artist You Should Know About: Ella Henderson

If you've stumbled upon this blog post for some random reason, whether you're taking a break from studying for exams or you're looking for something a bit new to add to your Youtube playlist, you are in store for a treat. I have a Pick of the Week that I am excited to post about. There's so much to expect from this up and coming artist and I can't wait to share it with you all…

Ella Henderson is an 18-year old singer/songwriter who has basically already accomplished more than I probably will in a lifetime. You may recognize Ella from the ninth season of the X Factor UK. After she was shockingly eliminated in sixth place, Ella didn't disappear from our radar at all. Currently she is signed to Syco Music (Simon Cowell's record label) and is working on her debut album, Chapter One, due to be released Fall of this year.

Let me tell you a bit about why I love this girl! Not only is her voice and performance style matured far beyond her years, she puts so much soul and emotion into every performance you can't help but feel connected to her in some way. I immediately saw something in Ella when I watched her on X Factor. Her passion for music and her insane songwriting ability is something to rival the masters. She somehow manages to maintain a perfect balance of talent, originality, maturity, and youthful spunk with every note she sings. Ella is a contender for the ages, exhibiting vocal qualities similar to that of Adele.

Fans have been patiently waiting for new Ella tunes and she has kept most of them at bay by posting covers of songs like Drake's "Hold On, We're Going Home" and John Newman's "Love Me Again." She has never failed to remind us of her crazy songwriting skills either. Since X Factor, she has debuted four original songs: "Evaporate," "Waiting," "Five Tattoos" (which you can check out here), and "The First Time." Despite these amazing teasers for Ella's first album, possibly the most exciting thing has been her debut single, "Ghost." The music video for the single premiered last Wednesday while the single will be released on June 8.

Ella is one of my absolute favorite young artists and I cannot wait until her album is released and I can listen to it nonstop. Being so young, Ella has so much ahead of her. There is nothing that could possibly deter her from this insane journey she is on. There is much to expect from her new music and I am positive that her natural ability and original, heartfelt lyrics will make the album just that much better. Make sure you keep an eye on Ella in the next coming months because she is bound to make a big splash in the music world.

Pick of the Week--Artist You Should Know About: Micky Parsons

Micky Parsons. What can I say about Micky Parsons…

This week I really wanted to shed some light on an artist I think deserves so much more recognition than he's been getting. Micky Parsons is a 19-year old singer/songwriter who has been currently working on some solo projects after the split from his group, District 3 (formerly known as GMD3).

*Cue awesome music intro transitioning into background info*

Micky was a part of GMD3 for 3+ years. The band consisted of Parsons, Greg West, and Dan Ferrari-Lane, long-time friends who decided way back when to make use of their love of performing and become a 3-piece harmony group. GMD3 started out doing covers of songs such as "In My Head" by Jason Derulo, "Price Tag" by Jessie J, and "Payphone" by Maroon 5 (just to name a few). I was personally a HUGE fan of this group because I thought they had a different sound and it was refreshing to see them remastering songs and adding twists to popular songs over the years. Basically to summarize, the group decided to enter into the 9th season of the X Factor UK. After they were eliminated during week 6 of the competition, things got a little rocky for GMD3. They did release a self-titled EP but shortly after called it quits. West and Ferrari-Lane went on to form a singing/comedy/entertainment duo called Fright Club. Micky on the other hand…

It was said that the group was having disagreements over management which caused the split. Who really knows though, right? All anyone knows is that Micky is a solo act now…and a good one! His voice has always been one to stand out but he seems much more comfortable performing his own songs than he ever did doing covers with GMD3. There's a sense of freedom and Parsons-esque style that can be seen in his covers and music videos that was apparently hiding behind the GMD3 curtain for years.

Micky has so far posted 3 original songs on Youtube and has eagerly made note that there will be many more to be heard soon. Among his originals, he has posted a cover of "Happy" by Pharrell Williams and "Wonderful World." Even though it has taken some getting used to seeing Micky as a solo act, I see a lot of potential in his R&B/pop/soul sort of style. There's just so much to expect from him! Look forward to lots of Micky Parsons in the future. His flawless vocal performances never disappoint so definitely keep him on your radar as one to watch!
