It's hard to find words to describe the horrific pain you've inflicted on so many but for the sake of an innocent soul, I'm going to try.
I want to start off by saying congratulations.
Congratulations on not only taking away a life, but taking away a daughter, a friend, a sister, an inspiration. Congratulations on reiterating how we can't all just live in peace; we must constantly be aware that people like you exist. Congratulations on escaping the backlash that has come from this. I don't wish you were here but I do believe you took the easy way out. Congratulations on taking away a sense of safety for so many. Concerts should be inviting and happy where everyone is able to forget their worries and come together with complete strangers as one community. Finally, congratulations on turning the music world upside down with one cowardly act of senseless violence.
We know your name now but that's not important. It never will be important. No matter the flawed reasoning you may have had for doing this, your name will never be a trending topic, it will never be the subject of a conversation, it will never be given a second glance. In the amount of time it took for you to bring a beautiful, budding life to an end, we have already forgotten about you. Your name is not important because you aren't the only one. You're a representation of the pain we feel and reality checks we needed.
You're the reason venues will (hopefully) add more extensive security precautions. How is it that I have been stopped from entering a venue for having a sharpie marker yet scum hiding behind a weapon can enter without hesitation? How is it that we are told security is there for our safety yet no one is paying attention when we need it most? How is it that a place that felt so safe has been tarnished by the selfishness and cruelty of a murderer?
You've changed the game. Artists should always feel encouraged to meet and interact with fans. Possibly the best feeling in the world is finally getting a word in with the one person or people you have given so much to and who have given so much back. You've taken that away. It used to be seen as "they must be busy" or "they must be tired after performing" but thanks to you, now it will be "they don't want to risk being gunned down by a psychopath for absolutely no reason at all." And who could blame them?
Christina. Your light shines bright even when you're gone. It is not the face of a killer that lives on but rather the joy and inspiration even the smallest thought of you brings. No one deserves this but, Christina, my sweet girl, you are too good for us. You are clearly needed in a much bigger way. Your innovation and talent are not why we remember you but instead we carry with us your purity and love. Shine bright, little one.
